For the first time, FCCMA is offering a regional training session on retirement options that extends beyond the previous trainings that were focused on defined benefit plans for police, fire, and other employee classifications. This training session will provide valuable insights and fresh perspectives on the associated challenges of funding and planning a financially secure retirement for all individuals; notably managers and key staffers who are often left out of defined benefit plans or who desire to supplement their defined benefit plans with other retirement tools. Mark Huston, ICMA RC's Southeastern Financial Planning Manager will provide an overview of the many services and resources offered by ICMA RC and will follow-up with a discussion on the different plans available to local governments to encourage retirement savings and planning, and keep pension costs in check. Attendees will leave the meeting with an understanding of their true "money personality" and how to make sure they are not their own worst enemy when it comes to investing for their own retirement or in their retirement decisions that involve others. Valuable handouts and information will also be available. This is a very important (and timely) training opportunity for local government professionals at all levels of their careers.
