Program Summary:
Generational workforce differences, succession planning,
unions, informal employee groups, employee training, filling vacancies, revenue
constraints, citizen incivility toward employees, etc., all represent examples
of challenges facing today's local government Managers/Administrators. So, what
are local governments doing to strategically address one or more of these
and/or other current and anticipated human resource challenges?
This joint FCCMA District Training/FGCU Fall Symposium
features an informal discussion among local government Managers/Administrators
on the "real" human resource issues facing their own agencies, which
initiatives have been helpful or not so helpful, and what they recommend for
the future. In the evolving, ever-changing environment in which local
government administrators work, appropriately addressing human resource
challenges is foundational to the agency's success, regardless of its size and
scope. This FCCMA training session defines human resource issues facing local
governments and provides recommendations for responding to these challenges.
